MEET THE TEAM | MARIE HOFMEYER
Marie Hofmeyer is the owner and design mastermind behind Holland House. This Northwest Iowa native moved back to Orange City in October 2007 and opened Holland House in May of 2010.
Marie knew from a very young age that she wanted to pursue a career in design. Constantly helping her parents re-arrange the living room & changing the layout of her bedroom fueled her love of beautiful interiors. Marie’s father was a painting contractor and would enlist in her help when choosing paint colors for customers. “It was so satisfying to see a job from start to completion. I loved to see a customer’s eyes light up when they came in to find their home done perfectly.”
After High School, Marie, initially started college as an Art Education major. Within the first year she knew her true passion was interior design. Although she wasn’t sure if it would be a viable career path she knew it was important to do what you love. After all, they say "do what you love and you wont work a day in your life".
While attending college at University of Northern Iowa Marie married her husband, Jesse. This December they will celebrate 16 years of marriage. After college Jesse and Marie resided in Kansas City where Jesse worked for an international engineering firm and Marie was a designer in Prairie Village, Kansas. During this time Marie worked with some of the most prestige clients in the Kansas City area. “It was wonderful to learn so many things that I would eventually get to take back to Orange City,” Marie stated.
In 2007, Marie’s daughter, Jadyn was born and soon after they knew Orange City is where they wanted to raise a family. Later in 2007 they returned to the area and it wasn’t until May of 2010 that Holland House was opened.
Jadyn is now 11 and in sixth grade at Orange City Christian. She is an amazing student, athlete, gymnast, and a hard worker. Jadyn enjoys helping at Holland House and her passion for design has already started to show. You can see it in her bedroom every morning before she leaves for school and her Pinterest board is full of design ideas.
In April of 2012 Beckym joined the Hofmeyer family. He is a true mama’s boy and everyone knows it (and Marie is PERFECTLY ok with it :) ). Beckym lights up the room when he walks in and has a way of making people smile. He is a 1st grader at Orange City Christian and loves recess and lunch the most. He aspires to work as a painter with grandpa, but also desires to be a cook at Taco Johns, his favorite restaurant.
The Hofmeyer family loves to travel and will take every opportunity to do so. Marie stated, "we are blessed travel somewhere warm and tropical once a year with extended family.” In the spring you can find the Hofmeyer’s trying to escape to somewhere warm after Jesse’s busy tax season. In April 2018 they enjoyed a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, a new favorite location!
With the holidays around the corner you can find Marie enjoying her extended family Christmas Eve celebration with white elephant gifts followed by a trip to somewhere warm. They vowed to travel every year over the holidays.
Holland House has done so much growing in 2018 with the new design studio, we are excited for what is to come in 2019. We plan to keep cranking out fabulous designs for our clients. We LOVE to help with any job, big or small! It is Marie’s passion to still see the look on every client’s face when they walk into their finished project and fall in love with their homes! “We spend a lot of time in our homes, and I find it important that it be a place of peace, rest, and your sanctuary.
